“It is my pleasure to recommend Kathleen, without any reservation whatsoever, as the ultimate house and dog sitter. Now that I have found her, I will never let her go, and hope she is always available whenever I need someone to stay with my beloved pups, Cleo and Scout. Cleo is a large German Shepherd and Scout is a scrappy rescue terrier with a thirst for small animals. He is an escape artist, and if allowed to get out, will disappear for hours, leaving his family wringing their hands, wondering if he will return. Therefore, it is always with significant anxiety that I leave the little guy.
Kathleen first stayed with my dogs this past September (16-24) and now I find myself planning my vacations based on her availability. Not only did she keep the dogs safe, she left the house in better shape than on her arrival. Scout got to sleep with her, and fell fast in love, and Cleo was very content as well. They both looked great when we returned.
While away, Kathleen kept us updated via WhatsApp as to how well the dogs were doing. I was so impressed that in advance of her stay, Kathleen took the time to drive over an hour to our town to meet me and the dogs, and to familiarize herself with our home. She asked all the right questions, and provided a detailed questionnaire regarding the dogs and the home, so that she would be able to manage anything that might come up. Upon our return, she provided an informative rundown of the events of her stay.
Suffice it to say that Kathleen is the BEST, and we have already booked her again for a wedding weekend in October, and a visit to our grandson December 7-15. Humans and canines alike are excited to see her again. It is such a gift to find someone who you know will love your pets and your home as much as you do.”

I was also extremely impressed at the time and care she took to know about our cat and our household before confirming her sit. We received a detailed questionnaire from her which we based our skype call on. It had all the questions you could ever think of, covering food, water, transport, safety and emergency situations. It was clear that whatever happened while we were away, Kathleen would take care of everything well.

“Kathleen came to us to look after our two kittens, English Cob horse and Falabella x Mini-Shetland pony. Our horses stay out and look after themselves and the kittens were established so had a routine. I told her it would be no problem and to pack with layers as the weather is good with a little rain. However, we didn’t account for the extreme weather conditions in Brittany, France this year. The area was hit by two storms. The electric fencing was shredded by the worst winds for years. Most of the hay was destroyed by the rain. The horses had to be kept in and were not used to it so in frustration kicked the door off. Kathleen rose to the occasion and, with help from our friends, managed to re-fence, replace and make do for our 10-week holiday. It was so bad we offered to come home but were told she was coping. We came home to an immaculate house with a debriefing of her 10 weeks in Guilliers. I can’t recommend her highly enough. Lovely lady, practical, organized, and looked after our animals as well as we would have.”

“We can’t rate Kathleen highly enough (although we almost don’t want anyone else to find out how fabulous she is in case she’s too fully booked ever to house sit for us again!). Right from the start, we knew we’d made the right choice when she asked to Skype with us so we could ‘meet’ online before we eventually met in person. Kathleen was in regular contact by email right up until she arrived and, by the time she did arrive it, was like meeting an old friend.
Kathleen has a very calm, professional, and friendly manner and the dogs took to her right away (after the usual terrier yapping at a new person in the house!) and even our rather skittish cat, Lily, warmed to her and was happy to have Kathleen’s lap as a replacement for mine while we were away. Kathleen sent us photos and updates regularly by email and Facebook which was really reassuring and I swear the house was cleaner when we got home than it had been before we went! Even the dogs seemed a little put out that we were back and Kathleen was leaving!

“Kathleen is the most wonderful, dependable, up-beat, responsible house- and pet-sitter that you can imagine! We were able to meet in person in New England early in 2016 before she came to Europe. After that first face-to-face meeting, I was quite sure I could entrust my house to her, no matter what unexpected challenges might come up. In September, Kathleen arrived and we overlapped for a happy week in the house together. She then stayed on until December 21 when my children and grandchildren arrived for the holidays. We were all sad to see her go.
Happily, she was able to return in the spring of 2017 for three months. She was in on the planting of our small garden, caring for it as the weeks went by. She kept in regular email and photographic contact with me, asking for solutions to various problems that unexpectedly arose and then dealing with those problems good-naturedly and intelligently. She made extremely helpful lists of what I could do to improve the house and instructions I had written as a ‘93 house manual.
Kathleen’s logic, efficiency, and grace is outstanding. In the course of her stay, she created a warm personal relationship with many people in the local community - enjoying their warmth and welcome. She honored the outside cats and they loved her company whenever she took walks or worked in the garden and yard. I am hoping that not too many years will pass before Kathleen will again come to house sit for me. And so, I can give a huge recommendation for anyone who is considering Kathleen to take care of their home and beloved animals.”
